A Good Belize Hotel as a Base For a Belize Adventure Vacation

Monday, August 31st, 2009
Jim Brown asked:

Belize has such contrasts from the beaches to the jungle to the Mayan ruins, from the rivers to the Cayes, needs a good base to see it all, so check out the Black Orchid Resort..

Any Tour Package to Belize must include all the sights. It seems a shame to hide away on a Caye, even if diving is your passion. Equally silly to spend your entire time in the jungle viewing ancient Mayan Ruins, or just sitting on a beach in the Caribbean sunshine, when there is so much to see and do. The problem is where do you base yourself so you can be sure your tour package to Belize gives you the adventure you want, and the relaxation and down time your body needs as well.

Such a place is the Black Orchid Resort on the banks of the Belize Old River on the outskirts of Burrell Boom Village, is just twenty minutes from the international airport so its easy to reach and easy to leave from.

There are three different types of people here, with the first being people who have spent a week or more on their Belize adventure vacation who now need some R & R. The Black Orchid Resort is a great place for that, because you can just lie in a hammock sipping a cool tropical drink and then taking a quick dip into the pool for body refreshment. All they really want to do is chill out and relax, and if they feel up to it they go down to the river and canoe, kayak or just paddle boat, or even take a power boat trip up the river.

The second group have just arrived off a long haul flight, and are recovering before starting an arduous round of all that Belize has to offer, with packing and unpacking, a different hotel or inn every two or three nights to return exhausted to await their flight out.

You are the third group who know exactly what they want to see and do and the wonderfully helpful staff at the Black Orchid Resort will ensure it happens. You see the rest of belize can easily be reached from the Black Orchid Resort. As a consequence of this they arrange a whole host of Belize adventure vacation tours, and give you the best of all worlds with a great tour package to Belize. So if you want to go diving, snorkelling, fishing, sailing, then you can. If you want to go hiking or visiting some of the offshore Cayes, then just ask. The ancient Mayan Ruins and their archaeology can be explained and explored on a private tour if that is what you want.

Wonderfully there is the Black Orchid Resort to return to with its very comfortable accommodation, a great three meals every day, and the pool to wash away the dust and the tiredness.

When it is time to go, you will be very sorry to leave such a hotel, that has such willing staff, that organizes wonderful trips, and probably you are one of the few guests who is in on the secret, that there is no need to leave the Black Orchid Resort to have your Belize Adventure vacation, because you can organize it from here.

Ecotourism Holiday Vacation

Thursday, August 27th, 2009
Jizmack Baraceros asked:

Tired of all the hustle and bustle of the city? Sick of the ways the planet has been polluted by people who do not know any better? Want to contribute something for the betterment of the planet? Planning to do something meaningful while on holiday? Why not commit yourself to it and plan to have an ecotourism holiday?

According to the definition by The International Ecotourism Society (TIES), ecotourism is the “responsible travel to natural areas to conserve the environment and improves the well-being of local people.”

Ecotourism is a portmanteau of the two words, Ecological and Tourism. While it suggests travel to some destinations, it also connotes an ecological aspect. Ecotourism focuses on volunteering, finding ways, and helping with the betterment of the planet. The Ecotourist intends to do away with conventional tourist ways which contributes to the degradation of natural resources, pollution, and corrupting the cultural integrity of the tourist spot.

Eco-tourism holidays should go out of their way to preserve the environment and stay true to the local cultures and customs. An eco-tourism holiday could be a walking holiday, an animal conservation holiday, a desert tour, and more. Taking an eco-tourism holiday does not have to be uncomfortable. There are many hotels and agencies that cater to eco-tourism holidays, yet with a comfortable offer. When travelers learn and respect the country that they are traveling and staying in, the holiday maker benefits, as well. A common misconception is that eco-tourism holidays cost more, but this certainly does not have to be the case. Many resort hotels are built by using energy saving devices, such as automatic lights and water saving measures that keep costs low.

Derek’s Gold Mastery Guide – the Definitive Guide for Wow Gold Farming

Tuesday, August 25th, 2009
Wow Gold Farmer asked:

Derek’s Gold Mastery Guide, is one of the best WoW Gold Guides to have become available on the internet. Derek states that he can help any World of Warcraft player at whatever level farm close to if not more than 150 gold an hour in World of Warcraft. While this statement does appear to be pie in the sky for some of us, the Warcraft Riches guide does an fantastic job of providing step-by-step ways to farm great amounts of WoW gold.

There are a few other World of Warcraft Gold Guides on the net and they could do well to take a look at how the Warcraft Riches guide develops the art of World of Warcraft gold making into a no risk and easy to follow guide book.

The author of the Warcraft Riches guide is Derek and has been playing World of Warcraft since the start of WoW and has learned the best ways to farm copious amounts of Warcraft gold. Many of these cunning tips he picked up by watching the online World of Warcraft gold famers who basically live and breathe in the World of Warcraft servers. These WoW gold farmers are very adept at collecting gold. After, they setup websites and sell off the gold they farmed to other World of Warcraft players for a tidy profit. For many of these gold makers, especially the Chinese ones, this is their real job.

By observing how these World of Warcraft gold farmers operate, Derek was able to learn invaluable information on how to rapidly farm huge amounts of gold in World of Warcraft. Derek’s Gold Mastery guide has been cut up into smaller easy to follow sections. This allows the reader to choose which method they want to make use of to farm literally any amount of gold in World of Warcraft.

Derek’s guide goes through each World of Warcraft profession and describes exactly how to obtain and use the quickest methods in levelling each of the profession skills. Derek’s Warcraft Riches Guide also lays out how to use each profession to farm the greatest quantity of gold immaginable.

Various guide books that Derek includes as part of the Warcraft Riches deal include a guide to the Auction House, a section to improve your fishing skills, and a Grinding guide. All of these smaller guides show you in an easy to follow fashion exactly how to farm the most gold possible in World of Warcraft. Some other World of Warcraft Gold Making Guides on the internet only provide information on one attribute of the World of Warcraft economy. Derek’s WoW guide is a unique World of Warcraft gold farming guide that gives you a wealth of information on how to farm World of Warcraft gold through many different channels.

Also, because a certain World of Warcraft gold farming guide alleges 200 or more gold an hour, this does not mean that the way in which the gold is farmed will be fun for the farmer.

Derek’s WoW guide presents us with a variety of different ways to farm for gold in World of Warcraft so even if some of them appear to be less than exciting, there are plenty of other choices available to maximize your gold making efforts in WoW.

Derek even has a video review of the Warcraft Riches Guide as well as some secret gold farming tips.

Environmental Protection and Ecotourism

Monday, August 24th, 2009
Roger Munns asked:

Local authorities in popular tourist destinations are beginning to take matters of environmental protection into their own hands. Governments and nonprofit organizations are banding together in the fight against pollution. Efforts to sustain tourism to favourite destinations without harmful effects to the local environment, as well as culture and social interactions, are the main focus for the most recent campaigns.

Mallorca Promotes Environmental Protection and Tourism

In order to maintain sustainable tourism in the Balearic Islands, Mallorca – often known as Majorca – is promoting a campaign that promotes environmental protection. Environment friendly tourism in heavily visited areas is important for the overall atmosphere of tourist areas.

Island tourist locations tend to take more abuse from tourism than most other areas. The new campaign, developed by Palma’s Tourism Institute, IMTUR, is called ‘Palma, Responsible Tourism.’ The World Tourism Organization also supports the initiative. The primary goal is to encourage tourists to be more environmentally responsible in Palma.

A few of the programme’s objectives are:

* To educate tourists and residents on water consumption.

* Promote Palma and Mallorca as a prime tourism destination that places emphasis on protecting the environment and the Mediterranean.

* Encourage environmentally safe tourism once tourists arrive.

* Decrease carbon levels and air pollution from vehicles.

* Increase energy awareness and introduce energy conservation practices.

This isn’t a comprehensive list, only examples of what tourists can expect from the ‘Palma, Responsible Tourism’ campaign. The programme includes incentives, activities, competitions and a cycling event available to all interested tourists. Palma Town Hall will donate 1 euro to the campaign for every tourist that takes part in activities related to the campaign.

Other Environment Friendly Vacation Locations

Palma’s campaign is new to the Balearic Islands. The general idea, however, is not new to other tourist destinations around the world. Whether it is referred to as ‘environment friendly tourism’ or ‘ecotourism’ the end result is the same.

The general idea is to introduce tourists to recycling and other activities that will help sustain tourism in their favourite destinations. In protecting their favorite vacation spots, tourists also help to protect neighbouring rivers, streams, wildlife and communities from potential harm caused by pollution.

Similar campaigns exist in the Caribbean. One development firm was quoted as saying sustainability is ‘finding the right balance between the need for development and the need for environmental protection.’

Overdevelopment of a destination can lead to a drastic downfall of the quality of vacations available to tourists. Locally owned shops and fisheries on the Caribbean Islands have joined the efforts to help combat the negative effects of mass tourism.

Resorts and hotels on Malta promote environment friendly tourism by setting a high standard for their guests and employees. Water and energy conservation are very high on the list, as are reuse and recycling.

Employees and guests are urged to turn off lights in rooms that aren’t being used and to ensure water has been used conservatively and turned off when not in use. Recycling bins are placed in hotel rooms, and guests are encouraged to use only environment friendly, recyclable containers.

Environment Friendly Hotels and Resorts

Each passing year sees more hotels and resorts join the fight against pollution. Environmental agencies have begun offering initiatives and awards to hotels and resorts that go the extra mile to protect the environment. The very environment they seek to protect is the one that draws more tourists to their location year after year.

Several U.S. ski resorts have earned awards from environmental protection agencies recognizing the work they put into protecting the environment and local forests. Their efforts include using environment friendly cleaning products and recyclable take-out boxes, cups and flatware, as well as encouraging reuse of linens and towels and composting kitchen scraps with wood chips for use in landscaping. In all, eight U.S. ski resorts were recognized by Clif Bar & Company for environmental excellence.

Swine Flu Facts

Sunday, August 23rd, 2009
Eric Kampel asked:

Swine influenza – Swine influenza or swine flu is a respiratory disease in pigs caused by the type A H1N1 swine influenza virus (SIV). Humans in close proximity to swine could contract swine influenza if the swine are carrying the rare strain of the SIV that is capable of affecting humans.

SymptomsSwine flu symptoms in humans are generally similar to regular flu (influenza) symptoms and include muscle pain, runny nose, sore throat, cough, headache, lack of appetite, fever, chills, and general weakness and discomfort. Other reported symptoms are nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.

Transmission – Swine flu spreads from pigs to humans when humans are close to infected pigs. People working in barns or visiting livestock exhibits housing infected pigs are likely to get affected. Transmission from humans to humans can occur when the infected individual coughs or sneezes when others are close by. Putting one’s hands to the nose or mouth after touching anything with the flu viruses on it could also spread the infection. Consuming well-cooked pork and pork products won’t cause infection as cooking to an internal temperature of 160°F kills bacteria and viruses, including the swine flu virus.

Treatment and medication – While swine flu can generally be cured by the four antiviral drugs approved for curing flu in the US, amantadine, rimantadine, oseltamivir and zanamivir, the recent 2009 swine flu outbreak viruses have been found to be resistant to the first two drugs. Oseltamivir and zanamivir are now recommended for treatment and prevention of swine influenza.

Prevention – Swine flu can be prevented by taking certain precautionary measures, such as washing hands frequently with soap or an alcohol-based hand wash. Staying away from infected individuals is important as their coughing or sneezing could spread the infection. If instances of infection are reported in your locality, stay indoors as far as possible. Swine flue vaccine could be out by June 2009.
