Spend at least 3 days doing that, it is a huge area. Of course, you are going to run into a lot of tourists there, but it is still worth it.. Phnom Penh is a must-see also, it is like the wild west of SE Asia. Hire a tuk-tuk driver for daily sightseeing, they know all the main attractions and then some. One of the best-kept secrets of SE Asia is Sihanoukville, a resort city in southern Cambodia. A lot of people have told me it is the same as Thailand was in the 70's. It has a very distinctive, laid-back atmosphere, and you can get a hotel room with air conditioning for $15-20 a night. Also, it is safe to rent a motorbike and just use that for transportation. There's still not that many tourists that go there, but that is changing fast. I've been there twice, and I loved it.... This is just for Cambodia:
